RIP Grandpa Timmcke.....

Grandpa Timmcke....

Mark's grandpa died on Jan. 26, 2010.  He was an amazing man...

Donald L. Timmcke, 88, of Shawnee, Kan., passed away on January 26, 2010. Visitation will be held Friday, January 29, from 6-8 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel. Services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at Overland Park Lutheran Church, 7810 W. 79th, Overland Park, KS 66204, with burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Donald was born August 13, 1921, in Belgrade, Minn., and lived his childhood and early adulthood in Beloit, Wis. He moved to Shawnee, Kan., in 1961. He was a veteran of the Korean War and WWII. While in the U.S. Navy, he served on the USS Henderson as SOM 1st Class. For 25 years, he worked for Fairbanks Morse Company and then Allis- Chalmers, Independence, Mo., where he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Overland Park Lutheran Church, where he sang in the church choir, enjoyed ushering and lawn care. He was also a member of Carnival Dance Club, where he and Marian enjoyed ballroom dancing. He bowled for many years with the Overland Park Lutheran and Bethany Lutheran Church leagues. He was also a member of American Legion and the past president of the Pioneer Neighborhood group in his Shawnee Community. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Marian C. Timmcke; children Ronald L. Timmcke (Barbara), Albuquerque, N.M., Jeannine L. Olcott (Robert), Overland Park, Kan., Kim L. Stephens, Shawnee, Kan., Dana L. Timmcke (Judi), Monterey, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; his sister Marilyn Folts (Donald), Beloit, Wis.; brother Wesley Timmcke (Joan), Emmaus, Pa. Preceding him in death was his brothers Norman Timmcke (Jane Rehard), Beloit, Wis., Merle Timmcke (Mary), Overland Park, Kan.
